Suppress Alerts on CPU in APM

I have created some service monitors in APM 4.0.  I have an alert set up to email me when the monitor goes critical, but I only want to be emailed/alerted if the monitor is critical because the service has stopped.  I do not want to be emailed/alerted just because the service/process is above the cpu threshold.  Is there any way to filter out these alerts that are caused by high cpu usage and still receive alerts when the service actually stops?

Most commonly customers will set up 2 alerts. 

One for when the service goes down.  This alert will be based on the status of the component such as up or down.

One for when it goes warning or critical.  This is based on the thresholds that are set for the component. 

If you only want to be alerted when the component goes down, don’t enable the second alert.  If you want to be alerted when some components go warning/critical but not others, you can remove the thresholds for those components you do not want to be alerted for.  For example these service components, edit the alert, expand that component and remove the thresholds.  Then they will never go in to a warning or critical status.

Another option would be to really tailor the threshold alert to not alert if it is a service component.  So, it really depends on the overall alerting you require.
