Unable to understand error solarwinds orion

Good evening all,

I'm working for an ISP and using solarwinds orion application.

In this under syslog tab it is generating an error under severity status. Please explain this how to understand.

we are using at least 100 multi vendor switchs and cisco 7000 series routers.

AMEERPET_HUAWEI MSTP/4/TCGUARD:OID 1.3.6.1.4.1.2011.5.25.42.4.2.15The instance received TC message exceeded the threshold will be deferred to deal with at the end of TC protection time. (InstanceID=0)

Please help me.

This OID is specific to Huawei (manufacturer). I don't know the context of the alert, or your topology, but it looks like that switch is triggering an alert that it is receiving too many topology change BPDUs. You could look into investigating any topology changes for that instance of spanning tree, and tuning the tcguard setting if the message turns out to be benign.

All devices participating in that instance of spanning tree with tcguard enabled probably would show that message. A topology change in that spanning tree instance would affect the entire tree; as such tcguard would trigger the message. tcguard would need to be tuned to account for those topology changes. Spanning tree instances that do not support rapid convergence (I.E. portfast in Cisco RSTP) would trigger a topology change every time a port goes through the listening>learning, etc. stages of spanning tree.
