Lost database password

Does anyone know of a way of recovering the password on the NPM database? We are migrating over to a new server and would like to carry the info across to the new server. Unfortunately we cannot remember the password for the database.

Any ideas?

I believe if you open the SWNetPerfmon.DB file with Notepad located in the 'Network Performance Monitor V7' directory where Orion is installed, you will find your answer. The password is part of the database connection string near the beginning of the file. Let me know if this helps.

when I migrated to a new box and new version installation..... I restored the database using the database management tool and then ran the setup module... I forgot my password to but when it asked more the logon I entered it.. after inputting the wrong password it asked me if I wanted to set a new one.

Strange but true... the new password was entered without the oldone and everything started to work perfectly

You are both correct.
The SQL database userid and password are in the SWNetPerfMon.DB file. But... you can simply set a new password using the Configuration Wizard.

Do NOT set a new password if you have multiple polling engines, Remote Admin, or Hot-Standby Services installed unless you rerun the Configuration Wizard on ALL systems and set the SQL database password the same.
