There has been some discussion among my group about whether to repoll the NPM node for verifying APM component states. Newer versions of APM have their own 'Poll Now' option that I have been told by support isn't an instant re-poll, but it puts the repoll into the job queue so that the update does come through quicker.
SOP right now is to repoll APM, then go into the Edit Application screen for the instant tests to verify current status. It does take some extra steps, but also gives us the ability to easily grab error messages and stuff.
The reason I ask is that we have a few Solarwinds servers that have not yet been upgraded to an APM that supports application polling (and not enough manpower at the moment to perform the upgrade). So on these servers is it sufficient to repoll the Node that the APM monitor is attached to or do we just have to wait for the next APM polling cycle to refresh the alert status?
Thanks
