SAM 6.6 Release Candidate and Assisted Upgrades!

Great news! The Server & Application Monitor (SAM) 6.6 Release Candidate is now available, and in the customer portal. What's even better, is that you can sign up for a dev assisted upgrade. Those who participate will receive 3000 Thwack points, which can be redeemed for cool stuff from the THWACK Store!

Developer Assisted Upgrades are an excellent way for you to get up and running successfully with the latest release candidate. Upgrades are conducted via Webex with representatives from Product Management, Engineering, and Support to answer upgrade related questions, provide recommendations, as well as promptly resolve any issues which arise during the upgrade process. Please note that slots are limited and will be filled on a first-come first-served basis.

All participants must meet the following criteria:

Must currently own SAM, under active maintenance
Some version of SAM must be installed and running in the environment already
- The Dev Assisted Upgrade Program is for 'upgrades' only, not new installs
Servers must meet the minimum requirements for SAM 6.6.
- Orion Server = Windows Server 2012 or later
- SQL Database Server = SQL 2012 or later
Must not have already upgraded the environment to the SAM 6.6 Release Candidate on your own

I installed 6.6 RC2, I see the new Incoming TCP connections details for all of my servers after installing the agents.. However every single server and application in my environment show 80% packet loss in this view.. I know this isnt the case seems like a bug someplace..

Chillware, Thanks for commenting on the RC. I've been waiting for GA, and didn't plan on installing the RC. Any other screenshots on the new features would be appreciated! Especially if they're working as expected... Dave B

Chillware and Solarwinds team - has the "80% packet loss" reporting issue been resolved?

We are also facing the same issue, however is isn't happening to all of our connections. We are seeing high "packet loss" on about 40-50 connections.

We are also having the same experience. I have opened a ticket with Support, so far no real progress on resolving the issue.

They told me to open firewall ports for 'nping' on all server w/ the agent installed.. so far that isn't working.. try it out on your side and report back..

Update - 4/30/2018: This seems to have completely fixed my issue.

I start poking around and I noticed that all of my servers that are affected by this are Windows Server 2012.

I also noticed that I was getting a bunch of Solarwinds Events such as:

I found this page about NPing not working: https://github.com/nmap/nmap/issues/1031

I tried to rebuild the bindings (as described in the link above) and this seems to have fixed the issues on 4 of my servers. I ended up just opening powershell as admin and running this command:

&"C:\Program Files\Npcap\NPFInstall.exe" -r

This seems to have resolved the issue for me, but I will keep trying it out and keeping an eye on the servers that I fix.
