Polling interval versus collected statistics

I have a number of areas I've seen this: The interface polling interval is 120 seconds; the statistics collection is every five minutes. When I customize a "Min/Max/Average" chart for the last 24 hours with a five minute interval, then export the data and look at it in Excel, I see very frequent gaps in the data:

I see this all over the place. is this normal?

Check your polling completion %, you are missing polling cycles. In my experience that could happen due to a few different reasons:

Overloaded polling engine.
The target is across a slow network connection, so some polls simply don't come back in time
The target devices is overwhelmed with other tasks and can't respond to the polling request

So take a look at both the polling engine and the target device, and let us know if you see (or don't see) any signs of those factors.
