Interface Bandwidth speeds in Orion vs. device

I need to know where Orion grabs the transmit and receive bandwidths from for interface details.  I have the interfaces configured with bandwidth statements for 56k, but Orion pulls them as 16k.
This is messing up my utilization statistics and does not help with forecasting.  I've tried to manually change the values in the DB to have them overwritten by Orion (i've stopped the NPM, made the change, then restarted...).
Any help is appreciated.

Orion pulls this information from the ifSpeed MIB on the device. There is good news for you...

 
First, there are two reasonable explanations. Either a) the device is reporting the wrong value in this MIB or b) the router was reconfigured after the device was added to Orion. Orion discovers these values upon initial discovery but doesn't automatically update them.

The good news is that your data is OK. All percent utilization calculations are made on the fly; meaning, that if you update these values in Orion all of your percent utilization values will now be correct going all the way back to when you first started monitoring this device.

Also, in case you're interested or you find that the device is truly reporting the wrong values, here's some information on this specific MIB from the RFC.

An estimate of the interface's current bandwidth in bits
 per second. For interfaces which do not vary in bandwidth
 or for those where no accurate estimation can be made , this
 object should contain the nominal bandwidth. If the
 bandwidth of the interface is greater than the maximum value
 reportable by this object then this object should report its
 maximum value (4 , 294 , 967 , 295) and ifHighSpeed must be used
 to report the interace's speed. For a sub-layer which has
 no concept of bandwidth , this object should be zero.
