Has anyone seen issues with alert muting yet? We are getting alerts even though we muted them on that node. As you can see below, I first muted alerts and then had to unmanage the node completely since alerts were still coming through.
We have experienced the same issue.
In our case, I think it might be that we muted the alerts on a node that had already sent it's 'Hey i'm down' notification. In our setup, that alert has a few escalations before it hits a recurring 60-minute reminder.
We did wind up unmanaging the node to hush the alert.
We got another alert way past the time the device could have said "I'm down" and it not get caught by the mute alert 'rule.' Now that I know it's not just us, I'm even more inclined to believe it's a bug.
+1 for this. We also get alerts way after Muting.
We have figured out that muting only work prior to the device going into an alert status. It does prevent the alert from being triggered, which obviously prevents all it's actions from triggering. It will not prevent alerts from being sent after the alert has been triggered.

I haven't used the "Mute" feature yet....but I will and report back....

I have talked to development team and confirmed that it is a bug. We even tried it on the new release which is the NPM 12.2 but they have the same result. Dev team has already filed a case for that and they will be looking into it. The only work around for now is to acknowledge the alert for it to stop.

Poking around, it appears that SW does not expose their Bug db to the public, so it appears that we can't track it's progress.
thought the whole point of muting was to stop the spamming when the outage wasn't scheduled (ie is unexpected...)???
too late for me to test the acknowledging option on this occasion, but thanks for the work around - I will try this should I need to before the 'bug' is resolved....
Even if there was no prior alert "muting" does not always work.
I've seen it both in our current NCM ver. 7.6 and prior. The only way to be sure is to unmanage.

What versions are you on? This is fixed in Core 2018.4:

Muting suppresses any future alerts, but it does not stop already active alerts which are configured with repeating or escalating actions. E.G. continue to send email every 15min until the alert is no longer active. To stop those, you would need to acknowledge the alert.
