Hello,

My client is wanting to see their dashboard externally so they can monitor it everywhere they go

I'm a little reluctant to make everything available online but, with security being in place, can anyone see why not?

Has anyone any previous experience of this?

Pretty standard, to be honest davidhmeyer. Go with SSL, rather than HTTP, ensure that any account that has access to sensitive information has it's password changed regularly, and where possible use AD Integration for your accounts. This allows you to control who can log in or not, and gives you a central place to manage user accounts when people leave.

If you implement this, then you should be golden.

Oh, make sure that you use account and view restrictions effectively. Generally, only your NOC or senior management should have completely unrestricted access (as well as yourselves, natch). If you ensure that you restrict user access to just what they need to see, then any breaches that happen due to passwords being compromised, are the least damaging possible, from a monitoring perspective.
