I assigned the DHCP User Ecperience Monitor to my two servers that are running DHCP and they show a status of unknown. What do I need to do to configure this monitor? Thanks.
Have you ensured that DHCP server is configured with available DHCP leases on the subnet the Orion server is on?
The DHCP server is on the same subnet but we're not handing out DHCP leases for the server subnet. We only hand out leases for other subnets. Do I have to hand out leases for the server subnet even though the dhcp server is on that subnet?
Yes. The DHCP user experience monitor is making a DHCP request no different than any client would. You will need to ensure there is at least one available lease on that subnet for the DHCP user experience monitor to work. Right now the DHCP User Experience Monitor is making a DHCP request, but the DHCP Server is not responding with a valid DHCP offer because there are no available leases on that subnet.
That makes sense. Do I only need one available lease to get good monitoring or does it need a new lease every time it checks?
