Logging In With Active Directory Credentials

I have read the administrator's guide and configured my site to allow this.

I want to understand how to create the actual accounts.  I create the username in DOMAIN\<username> format.  However, what do you put for the password?  Do you have to know the user's password?  I tried with a test account putting a password different from the domain password and could not log in.

The AD support is pretty poor, Orion only does pass-through and will only search "Users" for users in the "Everyone" group. The explanation of this in the admin guide is pretty poor too.

This topic is pretty hotly debated on the Thwack boards, just search around a bit for the word "authentication" and you'll see that this is a commonly requested feature enhancement.

It's a shame that such a nice app has complete garbage for external authentication support.
