Orion Web Services Help Please

Hi all, Ive been evaluating SOlarwinds Orion 7.1 and Ive been having some problem with web services. The webserver we use here is Apache 1.3.31 with PHP 4.3.6 and Sun ASP extentions on Win2k3 Web edition:
I know that Orion 7.1 is meant to be run in IIS but we'd rather not install that due to the amount of security problems witnessed over the months.

In "Component services" the Solarwinds Orion NPM is there and Ive run regsvr32 orionwebnpm.dll but attempting to execute the web services results in:

Network Performance Monitor Startup Error

Cannot start SolarWinds Orion NPM Web Engine (OrionNPMWeb.Application).

Error Number -2147221164
ASP 0177~Server.CreateObject Failed~Class not registered

You may need to rerun the SolarWinds Configuration Wizard.
Visit www.solarwinds.net/.../Security for more detailed information.

Is it actually possible to run Orion 7.1 web services from a Apache webserver with Sun ASP or is IIS the only option? If it is possible then any suggestions, advice, fixes would be most welcome.
