I wanted to share with everyone the tribulations I went through yesterday... You may already be aware of this so my apologies in advance and it MIGHT have been specific to my environment but I'm not willing to try again!
I thought I was doing something good for my solarwinds SAM environment by cleaning up unnecessary tabs (which I later realized can and should be done from the account or group settings)
When I ran into a slight problem while deleting the Virtualization_TabMenu: Unexpected Website Error, Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
No big deal right? Click the "Return to Home" button and try again. WRONG... the entire solarwinds website was broken. Every site resulted in that error.
I tried everything, restarting IIS, solarwinds services, configuration manager, removing the website entirely, etc...
It wasn't until a call to tech support resolved my issue:
1. To bring this back, please login to your Orion server as admin and Go to Start > Control Panel > Uninstall a program > "SolarWinds Orion Core Services" > REPAIR
2. Complete the Configuration Wizard
SO, lesson learned:
