Hi All,
Although i know that Windows devices are monitored using WMI/SNMP or agent and Linux via SNMP/agent based.
But would like to confirm if there is any other method by which these two can be monitored, like NetBIOS, SSH etc...
NPM can also leverage syslogs and traps.
Server and Application Monitor (SAM) module and Network Configuration Manager (NCM) module open up more monitoring possibilities. Using private MIBs and scripts on Linux servers, output from commands can be returned to SolarWinds NPM. Most of the effort there is on the Linux server side. NCM module can make use of SSH/ telnet.

SAM will allow you to monitor Linux metrics via SSH with scripts, netbios wouldnt give you anything especially useful from a monitoring perspective and isn't supported by solarwinds.
