Network Performance Monitor (NPM)
UP/DOWN pooling with SNMP
lenney
I have a problem with an FW dept blocking ICMP ping packets.
SNMP is OK
I am not allowed to change the policy.
Is there any way to use SNMP for up/down status ?

Hello lenney,
Don the Jedi master may correct me on this but, if you are not able to hit the device with a ping I think it will always show as down.
This sucks for you.
You may want to convince your FW goons to allow echo replies through the firewall. That way they will not have to compromise security (ICMP pings will not be allowed through the firewall) but any host on the other side of the firewall (from the Orion server) will be able to respond to ICMP echo requests from the Orion server.
Be fantastic
