Toolset Intergration
dannori
Hello,
I am setting up a new intall of Orion and things are going very well. One thing I am having an issue with is the toolset intergration. In the manual it states that the first time I access the Orion web page I will be prompted with a security warning about intalling SWToolset.exe. Well, that never happens yet I have a new install of version 8 on my desktop. Any ideas?
Thanks,

Once You have Orion up and going, When you access Orion from the PC that has the Toolkit installed you will get the prompt.

mgibson,
I have Orion up and running with 100 hosts in it. I can sign on to the web page from my PC and have all fuctionality except the toolset piece. Do I need to have a tool set installed on the server also, in addition to my desktop?

No, From the PC that has The toolkit installed, access the Orion Web site, when you do, it will prompt you. There is a preface to this! You must have the Allow Browser Integration checked in your account profile on the Orion Server /admin/account views/Your account for this to work.

Allow toolset intergration is checked but i still get nothing. I even tried setting up a new account but to no avail.

I am not sure what the required versions are, but you will not only need the version of Orion that supports Toolset integration, but you also have to have a version of the Toolset that supports this. You should contact Tech Support and they can quickly go over what you have vs what you need. And troublshoot any problems you may have.

The toolset integration is an ActiveX extension. You can manage how IE sees the add-on from Tools/Internet Options/Programs. Click Manage Add-ons. You should see a list of programs IE has used / activly in use; find swtoolset.engine disable it. Restart IE, browse to Orion. you should be prompted to integrate the toolset.

There is an IIS URL Scan tool that can potentially block things from running. In out case, because we secure these servers down, URL Scan was blocking all .exe files from being run. And in order to get the right-click working you have to let swtoolset.exe run from the site.
You will see something like this in \windows\system32\inetsrv\urlscan\logs
Client at X.X.X.X: URL contains extension '.exe', which is disallowed. Request will be rejected. Site Instance='1', Raw URL='/SWToolset.exe'
That is something you will need to allow.

Thanks to everyone for your help. It was URLScan that was killing me. I had our WEB security guy allow .exe files and all is well.
