We are in the midst of a major server decom/tech refresh. We have teams that are checking servers, verifying if any customer data is actually on the server, and if not, shutting the server down for a 30 day "cooldown" period before the VM is deleted. Using custom properties and some creative report writing, I have been able to get a report that show what stage of decom servers are in (1 of 3) and their associated Node details.
One field EVERYONE is asking me for is a field / column that shows either what day the server was powered off for the cool down process, or a total amount of time (days/hours etc) the server has been powered off for. The end goal being a quick glance at the report and anything over 30 days we would know can be deleted from VMware.
I have been trying to play around with the "Last boot" option, but it seems to only work on severs that are powered on, not off.
I have tried some other things like trying to add the last time it was polled, discovered etc, but nothing is giving the results i need.
Anyone have any ideas how to capture this and report on it?
Thanks in advance!
