SQL User account password not valid

Hi Folks,

I'm configuring the SAM database and want to use windows authentication to remain in line with the rest of the SQL servers in our org. When I select use an existing account and select a windows account (which is a sysadmin) that exists on the SQL server I get the error "SQL User account password not valid" I've double checked the password but cannot get it to authenticate. Has anybody else seen this issue or have people just use SQL server accounts?

Is your sql set in "mixed mode"

Yep set in mixed mode, I've checked the logs and found SQL detects you are using a NT domain account with SQL authentication account and apparently it won't let you do that. I've just created a local SQL account and mapped the credentials of the NT account to it. A work around that will have to do for now.

Andrew,

Unfortunately the SolarWinds products are not setup to use AD accounts for SQL connection. You will need to use a SQL username and password. This is by design at the moment. Even using mixed mode authentication, you will still have to use SQL credentials.

The SQL User Experience Monitor in SAM supports both Windows Authentication and SQL Authentication. All Orion products however only support SQL authentication for installation as stated by above.

The ability for Orion to use Windows Authentication to connect to the SQL database was added in NPM 12.2 and all product modules which include Core 2017.3.
