Measure Exchange message response time?

Can APM 2 simulate an email transaction (similar to HP's OVIS) to measure the response time to and from the Exchange server? I was led to believe this was a possibility in APM but can't seem to nail it down.

Any help would be appreciated.

APM 2.5 has this feature. A release candidate is actually out if you wish to test its features or upgrade your production server:
