problem with APM v2 trial; AppBuilder

I am using a trial version of APM v2. When running the AppBuilder I am unable to add processes to the component monitor I am attempting to build. When I check boxes on the Select Items tab and click on Next, the checks are removed and I am asked to "Please select one or more processes". In other words APM is ignoring my choices.

What gives? I have already rerun the Config Wizard as a fix.

Can you create other things with AppBuilder? Are you using WMI or SNMP? Do you have the credentials?

It happens with either SNMP or WMI. And yes, I supply the proper credentials for WMI, and I get a list of processes running on the target server. But again, when I check a few boxes and click Next, I get an error asking me to do what I already did.
