HSE or not HSE in VMWARE?

Question

We will be running on vm ware for all the servers for Orion etc.
We are moving away from dedicated hardware for every application and into a vmware architecture.
Orion is supported this way but I’m just checking that it will do the job before we go ahead and
Buy this week.
We are also considering not purchasing the Hot standby module because of the virtual machine
Infrastructure and we would like a bit of guidance on this please(ie if the vm server for orion goes down
It automatically starts up again another instance of vmware so maybe no need for the HSE)
If anyone has any advice that would be great.

The VMware may be enough, but it only handles the situation where the entire VMware server goes down.  If the poller stops working for any reason while the server is still up and running, then you'll lose data.

I'm not advocating that you buy the HSE.  I just wanted to point out why it's not completely redundant.  It would reduce your risk a little more, but whether the marginal decrease is worth the cost of the HSE is your call.
