Hi All,
Just wondered how people are monitoring and alerting on exchange, we recently had an issue on the box and SW didn't alert us to it as it couldn't send the email through
Ideas ?
thanks
Hans
AppInsight for Exchange covers the backend of the Exchange Server, which will let you know when the Services fail, the exchange mailbox server goes offline or unavailable.
To get details as to the User Experience of the Exchange server, you can create a new Application template. You can utilize:
Exchange Web Services User Experience monitor
IMAP4 User Experience monitor
MAPI User Experience monitor
POP3 User Experience Monitor
Hi Sean,
I have a selection of the monitors that you mention in place thanks for the additional info, what I'd really like to know is if the exchange server is down how do you send and receive the alerts if this is being used to send the emails ?
I have looked in to the sms system "notepager pro" but not sure if/how this will work in the UK as seems to be more states based, we currently use another system to send SMS called textanywhere however from my understanding I still need to email out of SolarWinds to their system.
Do you know if it is possible to have a standard outlook account and link SolarWinds to this ?
Thanks
Check out Twilio for SMS alerting....
Have you been able to get Twilio working with SolarWinds?
