Hey Everyone,
I'm pretty rusty on my Solarwinds skills, since I don't use it as regularly as I used to, so I aplogize if this seems like a newbie question. But in the previous versions of NCM that I have used, I have seen instances where NCM would be doing ICMP polling on a regular interval, along with the NPM Server doing ICMP polling as well. I've seen this as a bit redundant, and could cause unnecessary overhead on the NCM server, since NPM was already doing the required polling and monitoring, so I would disable the ICMP polling to preserve resources on the NCM server.
With the current client I am at, I am noticing that the NCM server is quite sluggish and slow to respond to requests (NCM 7.0.2 on Win 2008R2). It appears that ICMP polling is active, but I can't seem to track down where to disable it (possible user permissions?), so I'm wondering if the NPM/NCM integration has matured since I've last used it. Does NCM obtain the node status from the NPM server? or are these still able to run independently, as I've seen before? trying to figure out if my inability to disable it is based on my permissions, or if the functionality has changed.
Any input would be appreciated!
