How do you send meaningful alerts to your NOC?

I am trying to determine the best way to send SAM alerts to our NOC. It's very common that our NOC will not know the details of the environment that they are receiving alerts on so it's important to provide as much important information in the alert as possible. I want the alert to include details on what it means as well as what to do about it without having to create a different alert for every application on every node. Any ideas on how to best accomplish this?

I am curious to hear what other folks are doing with SAM alerts that they send to their NOC?

One method would be to include valuable/useful information in either the application component User Description or User Notes fields. This information can be template or node specific and passed in a generically configured alert using the ${UserNotes} or ${UserDescription} macros.

Yeah, I was thinking about trying that. I was working on finding the specifics (variables to use and if was app or template specific) but now that you have provided me that I think I will make the suggestion.

I'm looking for ways to do this as well with all alerts. Adding the description is a good start but also looking for a simple way to add the alert definition. A SAM monitor may go critical but we may wait 3 polls to alert I need a way to communicate all of that efficiently.
