Hi All,
I am looking for advice on the best way to monitor our current Solarwinds monitoring solution. What I need to ensure is that there is a means of being notified in the case of a large scale site outage that would also impact the monitoring solution, and as such not being notified that such an outage has occurred. Obviously the most efficient and successful way of handling this would be using a cloud service - in our case Azure, which is independent of our data centres, to monitor and make these notifications.
What I am looking to be able to do however, is to hopefully leverage our existing investment in Solarwinds to do this, but avoid additional costs if possible. Initially the team was leaning towards standing up a minimal PRTG implementation specifically to monitor the Solarwind server services via WMI and alert on status changes.
Is there any flexibility with our existing implementation of SAM and NPM (and other modules) to create a second monitoring instance for example to achieve what we are after?
Any other opinions or recommendations on how you have or would handle a similar scenario?
