APM Poll Now Button - What does it do?

Running APM 4.0.1 and on the application page there is a Poll Now button similar to that found on the NPM Node page; however, it doesn't seem to really do anything.

 

For example:

 

Component is showing Critical.

Hit Poll Now - Still showing Critical

Go into "Edit Application Monitor"

Hit Test - Component returns Available

Go back to Application page

Hit Poll Now - Still showing Critical

Wait until next automatic repoll - Component showing Up.

 

What exactly does the Poll Now button do?

Goldtipu is somewhat correct. When you click "poll now" this reschedules the job to run "now" in the job scheduler. If the job scheduler is already backed up the job may not execute immediately but it should execute sooner than waiting for the next poll.

Also understand that depending on how many components are in a given template and the kind of component monitors that make up the application template it's not unusual for it to take a couple of minutes for the polling process to complete. You can see this behavior when you click "Edit Application Monitor" on the "Application Details" page and click "Test All"
