More Circuit Utilization problems (% too low)

Question

I have read all the other topics with similar problems but none seem to answer my question.

Here is the situation (simplified): let’s say that at one NODE on the NODE TREE there is a 1 MB connection; that NODE possesses 3 Tunnels which are represented as THREE INTERFACES and are connected to other places on the global network.

In present configuration, each of three INTERFACES in question has its TRANSMIT BANDWIDTH set to 1000000 and its RECEIVE BANDWDTH set to 1000000.

I want to monitor the the global % utilization (NODE) and the utilization of each INTERFACE individually.

When looking at report statistics – each INTERFACE chart seems thrice underestimated in my opinion - considering that the 1 MB connection is a full duplex. Am I right?

I have tried talking to my superiors but they do not seem to understand at what I’m getting at and I’m kind of left on my own.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, I charted the total bandwidth as a sum of all sub interfaces. On average, the percent utilization is still too low in my opinion (even when charting only busiest network times [8AM-5PM]).

I find it surprising that some nodes with 1Mbit connections average a 1-5% utilization, but that's another subject.

The connection is 1MB total bandwidth for all three subinterfaces combined. Your total utilization is the sum of the 3 tunnels traffic.
