SSL certificate check monitor

hey Guys!

I am new in Orion and we have APM 4.2.x version running we want to monitor SSL certs of remote server or bunch of web server. Now my question without adding those remote node how do i attached/assign SSL cert check temple?

Or if i want to create new page with contain all servers and SSL cert date how to do that ? I am quite confused here

The SSL Certificate Expiration Monitor requires a node to assign the monitor to. In the case of www.google.co.uk You should add this as a Dynamic External host node and assign the template to that node.

Microsoft has a KB article here on SSL Certificate info. Hopefully this will be of some help to you, please advise if it does not.

Why Microsoft KB ? I think you didn't get my point. I don't want to implement SSL cert for Orion web console. I want to check SSL certificate expiry dates of web servers. We hare in hosting environment and we need this function in orion to monitor and alert if any cert get expire.

I found temple in APM but i don't know how to assign it to remote node which is not in orion (example: i want to monitor yahoo or gmail https cert so do i need to add them in orion Node monitoring in order to monitor SSL cert of yahoo or gmail (This is example))

How to add node or assign this temple to nodes? and can i create page which give list of nodes with SSL cert expiry status ? I want all nodes in single page with SSL status.

#1 Import the Application Template into APM

Settings -> APM Settings -> Shared thwack Templates -> Locate and select the template -> Click "Import"

#2 Assign the template to a node or list of nodes

Settings -> APM Settings -> Manage Templates -> Locate and select the template -> Click "Assign to Node"

Select Nodes from left column -> click green arrow to move them to the selected nodes column and click "next"

Check the box "Inherit credentials from template" and click "Assign Application Monitors" to finish assigning this application template to your selected nodes.

Great! I already import it. But let me explain you what i want. We have hosting service so many web servers running on remote datacenter hosted by other company we don't have control over there. Now i don't want to add those server in my orion ( I only need to monitor SSL cert via port 443). That means those servers are not in my Orion list any more. Now how do i say orion "please monitor 443 port of remote server and tell me whether ssl is valid or expire.

If node is already managed by Orion then i can easily assign template. But if node is not in my orion then how could i say SSL cert template monitor blah blah node. Did you get it what i am trying to say?

Tell me how do you monitor www.google.co.uk:443 via SSL Certificate expiry template ? (while google is remote node and not in your Orion node list?)

Hello,

I have a pair of web servers that host 4 websites each, which are load-balanced with an F5. How would I use this template to check certificates for each different site? Each site has it's own SSL certificate. Even if I bypass the load-balancer and assign this template to one node it only returns the expire date for the first certificate in the list. Is this even possible with this template? Is there a way to enter a single node as 4 separate ones and associate the template with each so I can get readings for each website? Please advise, thank you!
