How to replace a part of hostname on multiple devices

I'm trying to write a script to rename hostnames on multiple cisco devices.

The current hostname is in the format of ABCD-EF-GHIJ-01, ABCD-EF-GHIJ-02 and so on till 10.

I would like to replace the first four letters in the hostname to WXYZ, so the hostnames should be WXYZ-EF-GHIJ-01, WXYZ-EF-GHIJ-02 and so on till 10.

Coudl somebody assist?

The only way I can currently think of is by using the SDK or a direct manipulation of the Data in SQL. I don't recommend manipulation by SQL, however just changing the NodeCaption should not break anything.

Are you familiar with either? SDK or SQL Queries?

I'm not familiar with either of them, any other options?like using a script on ncm and pushing it to end hosts via a job?

Ah, sorry I misunderstood your Initial request. So you want to change the actual Hostname of the device itself, not only the display name in the Orion Platform.
Yes then NCM Scripting seems to be a valid option. I am not sure if there is a „replace“ function in the Config Change templates. Haven’t had that request before so I would also need to do trial and error.

Thats correct, i want to change the actual device hostname.

But i'm not sure on how to proceed with this because the task here is to replace the first four letters for all the 10 hosts.
