DNS User Experience Monitor Connection Timeout

Hello Everyone

I am having a few problems with DNS User Experience Monitor. Basically I added a new Domain Controller in SAM (V6.2.3) and Installed the agent on it. The Server is also a DNS and DHCP host. All monitors are polling fine apart from the DNS User Experience Monitor.

It just shows "Connection Timeout"

For the life of me cannot think what it can be. I have other DC's with no issues monitoring the same applications

I have tested remote WMI Successfully. The Same group policy that applies the required firewall rules apply to all the DC's. I checked DCOM is configured correctly.

Maybe I'm just going mad and missed something! Any thoughts or help on this would be much appreciated.

Could the DNS server be running on a different port or blocked by the Firewall? Perhaps only DNS over UDP is allowed but not DNS over TCP?

Thanks for your reply . I can telnet to the Server on port 53 and also do successful nslookup using the same server so for me TCP and UDP on port 53 works ok. I checked in any case and the Windows firewall rules for DNS on udp and tcp 53 is enabled. Any other thoughts?

It would appear you're encountering the same issue outlined in the following thread.

This has been identified as a bug and we are tracking it internally under SAM-3315. The issue has been addressed in SAM 6.3 which is now in beta.

aLTeReGo Is there a way to run the DNS testing from a node, but have it rely on DNS from (elsewhere)? Otherwise installing this on non-DNS servers doesn't work.
