I have installed Vista and Orion and Get "Unexpected Error, quitting"
Is there ever going to be vista support or is this going to be in 8.02 ??????

Michael,
We don't support Orion on Vista, but we also don't support Orion on xp or Win2k Professional because they are desktop operating systems, not server operating systems.
That said, do you think we
should
support desktop operating systems, and if so, why?
Understand that every new OS we support has a cost in terms of testing and fixing bugs, which makes it longer for us to release new versions.

Why would you want to put Orion on a desktop based OS rather than a full sever based OS?
I think Soalrwinds should stick to server based OS's and concentrate on features and not on support for OS's.

Vista Server AKA Longhorn AKA Windows Server 2007 is still in beta and not officially released yet How can you expect SolarWinds to provide compatibility testing and support for an operating system that is still in development?

Yes, Longhorn Server is something on our radar. Microsoft has not even shipped the final beta. Given how much they change code between beta versions, there's really nothing we can even work with yet.
Microsoft has not announced a firm release date. They are saying late 2007, but it might slip into 2008.
