Exchage Server 2000 and 2003 (APM 2.0) question

Hello,

In the obove mentioned APM template the is one component which is called "Exchange Services". What does this component monitor? I only want to monitor if "MSExchangeMTA" and "MSExchangeInformationStore" are up and running. Can I use this component to do this? I've tried with only this component but when I shut down MTA service the component still shows me status "up" on the APM Application Details page. I am also aware that I can create invidual components to monitor each service but was wondering what this component is for.
