what services are required on monitored system?

We are using NPM and APM with snmp and wmi type monitors.

Does anyone know if there's a list of required services on the monitored systems for this to work? I just lost connectivity to certain performance monitor counters (perfmon) and found out that the remote registry service had stopped.

I have just seen a very similar problem with APM 3.5 running on Orion 10.1. The server OS is 2008 R2 and the SQl is 2008 R2 as well.

Monitoring of SQL Latch Waits, Full Scans and other SQL performance counters on SQL2008R2 (hosted on W2008R2 servers) results in occasional crashing of the monitored system’s Remote Registry Service and produces an event ID 1000 on the monitored system (see screenshot below). From there, monitoring of these performance counters is unable to continue until the Remote Registry service is started again.

Any ideas?

I would open a support case but I bet you anything that solarwinds will tell you that it is a microsoft issue :-P

Hello,
Exception like on screenshot is failure because of access violation and this could basically mean anything.

However, if service crashes I would check what is current recovery mode. Setting recovery to restart should keep service running even intermittently.

I'm not saying this is the solution but is worth checking.

I have only seen these services crashing when using Orion. I think it's a load issue. In any case, can someone please list the services that required on a Windows server?
