Can I change the configuration of the alert without clearing the triggered events with that alert? I'd rather not spam the network group with our disk space issues just to make a change to the alert.
you cannot change any trigger/reset conditions without clearing the alerts.
However if you set the alarm to not send emails if the alert has been acknowledged, you can acknowledge the alert before the action triggers have been fired.
alternatively you could just set the smtp server to an invalid one and after the email actions have been triggered you can set them back to the correct one?!? its not very pretty and I havent tested it myself but it should get the job done.
If you alter the alert trigger level so that new volume limits are exceeded you will get new triggers. You can delete the offending alert action, adjust the alerts, then reapply the action.
Can I disable the alert, make the changes and then enable it?
no, that would also re-trigger the alert actions (even without doing any changes to the conditions)
So if I delete the trigger and reset conditions, edit the email addresses, and re-input the conditions, that should keep the alert from triggering? How about unmanaging the devices for a short period of time while I make the edits?
No. When you remanage if any trigger the alert level you will ge alert actions.
you could check box the disable alert actions check box and the alerts will trigger but no actions will run.
