SolarWinds database collation

Question

Our DBA has finally got round to upgrading our SQL servers to 2016 and I've upgraded our various Orion apps to the latest release and now in Deployment health get a warning that the collation version is incorrect.

I've read a different thwack discussion to say that changing collation requires the SQL server being changed prior to the DB is migrated which is a bit difficult when we've upgraded straight from 2008 to 2016.

Is there a way of changing collation and if there is how?

I we were to leave it with the current collation will it cause any long term issues or is it just a performance hit?

Any help or advice would be much appreciated?

Hi Jon,

can you specify the deployment Warning?
There can be a Warning about the database collation or about the SQL Server Instance collation (or both)

PS: 
The SQL Server Collation can affect the performance in some cases like Case-Sensitive and Case-Intensitive querying.

(The Orion Platform does not support case-sensitive databases. The Orion Platform supports CI database on an CS SQL Server.)
