I am trying to get my head around orion (we have npm and apm). I have just come into the job, my previous roles always used bb/hobbit/xymon monitoring. I am sure this is simple but Its a steep learning curve right now I was wondering if i could get some help creating an application alert.
I need to create an alert that tests email flow through our infrastructure. I need to check that at least 1 out of 2 dns servers are up and dns is running, then i need to make sure 1 out of 2 mail gateways are up and smtp is running then finally that exchange server is up and the exchange app is running.
Any ideas how to go about this? I cannot seem to make it work in orion yet.
