Missing Data?

Has anyone had a problem with information missing at certain points during the day? We have about an hour gap on a number of our serial interfaces. The strange thing is that it seems to only be serial interfaces. This is about the third or fourth time this has happened.

We are using Orion version 7.2.2

The only time you might see data missing is during the nightly maintenance routine.
Perhaps your routers get too busy to respond to the SNMP polls?

The strange thing is that it isn't happening during the nightly maintenance. It seems to happen in the mornings. We are monitoring much more than just routers. We monitor a very large amount of servers and the loss of data is the same for all of the nodes. We have found that if we reboot it seems to clear the problem for a couple of weeks but inevitably it happens again.

Basically there is no CPU left for the polling engine.
This might be your issue.

We had the same problem in the mornings 8-11am... We finally discovered that the System Manager takes CPU resources away from the polling engine resulting in gaps. Engineers were using the System Manager when they came in each morning... The workaround for now is to quickly get into and out of the System Manager, and limit logins to only one person TS into the SW box.

Sure wish SW would fix this!!!!!!!!

We are having exactly the same issue where I work. I'll go to check data on a switch or a router and there will be no data for the last day or 2. I reboot the server and I start getting data again.

In my case, I doubt it is System Manager because no one is in it for that long a period of time.
