Release Candidate or the Stable Release?

Good Morning all,

The New 6.5 RC3 has come out and as i am a new person to working with Solarwinds. I have in my previous admin forays always waited for the stable release in the production environment and not installed the release candidate.

What are your thoughts on the matter?

Solarwinds is great about beta testing so by the time it goes to RC its usually fairly stable. Plus RCs are supported by tech support, as long as you have active maintenance.

If the RC has a feature I am excited to use I will install in production, if not I will wait for Stable.

Depending on how eager I am to take advantage of features I tend to skip RC's. Yes they are supported and they will *generally* be stable but little quirks in them have occasionally broken features that I relied on. They usually get those issues hammered out with the first couple hot fixes but I like to let other people guinea pig that all out.

I agree with you Mes, no amount of new features is worth the current install going down. I think I will wait for the stable release though there will be hotfixes i want most of the bugs out.
