Monitoring TELNET application

I have multiple applications that are nothing more than telnet and respond on the standard telnet port 23. As there isn't a native telnet application component (for some reason) is it possible to write a windows script to test for a successful telnet login or at least a response.

If so does anyone have an example?

Using plink would make the most sense, but you'd have to wrap it in a vbscript in order to use it in APM. If you google for 'plink vbscript' you'll get a bunch of examples.

There isn't a pre-built monitor for specifically testing Telnet/SSH credentials.

But, if all you want to do at this point is test Telnet-like ports for responsiveness, set TCP Port Monitor components on those ports.
