User experience monitor with SFTP

Is there a way to setup and user experience monitor for SFTP with a certificate so you don't need to use username and pasword authentication?

We are having issues with an SFTP box and told that our network is the issue and I am trying troubleshoot this and find our where the problem is, if it is our network or something in between.

Any help would be appreciated.

how would you do this with a script?

I am currently sniffing the ports with Observe from Network Intruments but that is only telling me that there are retransmissions and not showing me what is going on. I was hoping setting up a user experience would give me some more information.

I did see that Manage Engine Application Monitor 8 does SFTP monitoring I have not ried it yet but from the screen shot it only shows FTP http://www.manageengine.com/products/applications_manager/ftp-monitoring.html I didn't want to have to resort to another product but I may have too and if that happens then I might lose my application monitor in Solarwinds if the upper management sees that something else works
