Can you make an alert for new node discovery?

I don't think that this is possible but can you get Orion to send an alert if it

finds a new device in a subnet?

I would think you could schedule a network discovery and any new devices found could

be sent in an alert.

I have a feeling that this is not yet available but if anyone knows different

that would be great.

No, this is not possible with Orion. For Orion to "know" about a new device on the network, it must be added to the database manually or through a discovery process. Additionally, the re-discovery interval in Orion serves only to update resource information on elements that are already in the Orion database.

However, such awareness is part of the functionality of the LAN Surveyor application. You may want to check it out if you have not already.

that is correct - When Continuous Scan is active, LANsurveyor scans the network and looks for any new nodes and you can alert on these if need be.

Well how about if a port status change occurs?

Someone plugs into a port that has been inactive for a while and then becomes active.

Not sure if this is possible. And though it may not tell you what was plugged in, you can at least know something was plugged in without prior knowledge?
