SAM V6.7 Upgrade - How have thing been going?

I need to apply some hot fixes to Orion but to do this I need to upgrade from SAM 6.6.1 HF 1 to SAM 6.7. Have others upgraded to SAM 6.7? Have there been any issues with this upgrade? I am still having some issues when I upgraded Orion to 2018.2 and do not want to update and cause more issues. Additionally I need to update Virtualization Manager from 8.2.1 HF 1 to 8.3 but those updates have usually been painless. Thanks - Dave

The updates are getting slowly more reliable. I used the 3gb offline installer on the main poller and the 40mb sync on the other pollers and I think this was the first update I've applied without any issues at all (I've installed the latest updates and hotfixes every month for the past couple of years and always have something that goes wrong/ errors/conflicts etc). One thing I don't like about the new update process though is that I can't choose which updates I take, it just updates all products without any option to exclude, but overall this new process is a dream compared to the old days.

I love the new installer but wish we could pick what we could update. How long has the update been applied for?

I get a 5 hour window once a month to apply Solarwinds updates and OS patches - I think I installed SAM 6.7 the previous month so would have been on 8th Sept and I think VMAN 8.3 was installed during the last update on 4th Oct.

Update itself went fine (We have it running for few weeks now), the only issues we have are issues with AppStack (it just died and is not showing any related objects) not sure if it's related to SRM (support confirmed that there are some bugs with Unity arrays) but I have some cases open and waiting for SW support to solve it. We used online installer.

Thank you. I know the upgrade process is actually pretty easy now but I am looking for performance issues after the upgrade and it sounds like your AppStack is doing odd things. Did this happen right after the upgrade or did it take a few days for it to show up?

Basically what happened is that Main Polling Engine stopped polling data 2 weeks after upgrade (all APEs were working fine), so we have restarted it (first restart after upgrade) and that's when issues started. I have tried to restart services and run configuration wizard but without success. For some time we also had issues with widgets (we were unable to add new widgets to views, we couldn't see any widgets, only PerfStack projects were visible) but it was resolved by restarting SWIS services. I saw that AppStack/Widgets issues are pretty common with the newest version.

We have few cases open with support and to be honest every time we are asked to restart SW services we are able to fix some of the issues but at the same time we discover new issues, and then with next restart new issues are solved but old ones are repapering. So from now on I will always restart whole SW environment after upgrading it to verify if upgrade was successful or not.

Interesting. This sounds like some of the odd issues that happened when I updated my Orion to 2018.2 everything ran fine for two weeks then issues started happening. As a work around to all the bizarre issues I reboot my app server nightly and that has introduced stability until I can add some additional webservers to see if that is what is the bane of all my Orion issues. Good luck with support and let me know what they think the issue is.
