Creating a new report in APM

Hi,

I'm fairly new when it comes to configuring a new APM report but I am hoping somebody can help or point me in the right direction.

As it stands, any user (if they are permitted to do so) can select Application Performance Monitor from the menu and they will see the servers etc listed.

I want to create a customised report like you can in NPM so only a specific user can view a specific report listing specific servers, is this possible? As it stands I only have one page for APM.

Also, does anybody have a list of process IDs for the Process Monitor – WMI feature?

To create the reports you could simply use the same custom property tyhat you use to create the account limitation that is applied to thew user account as a filter in the report.

For example, say you create a custom property named "app1" to designate the servers that you want to assign to this user. You would then use the "app1" property to create the account limitation by the same name for the web site, and then also use the "app1" property to filter the report.

I'm a little vague on what you're asking here but hopefully, one of the following options work for you.

Set Account Limitations to the specific servers you want to restrict on this account.
Use the Report from Orion Report Writer resource to display your specific report on APM or any other page of your choice.

QLE is right in that an Account Limitation consisting of the servers the user needs to see and then applied to that user account will limit his/her access to only those devices through the website.

One other thing you could do would be to create a folder in the \Reports folder for this user and copy only reports you want this person to access into that folder. Then, in the Edit Account section, point this user account to that folder, rather than the \Reports folder. The reports you place in that new folder could be configured specifically to that user.

Well in the Process Montior - WMI feature one of the required fields requires a process ID to monitor. Unless i'm reading into this wrong.

Hi Borgan,

I see what you are saying about creating a new sub folder under /Reports. I've done that, i just need to work out how to create a new APM report with selected servers and then dump that report in the /Reports/New folder.

Yeah got it and i've now got the report up and running (filtered to the custom property which is assign to 'Department' for that user) which good!

Hi there, i'm not into APM yet however i'm so much interested on what you mentioned that you were able to create a sub-folder and the user were able to view those reports from their login, right? But it's quite different in my case, although i was able to create the sub folder from the reports folder, still when i gonna be assigning this sub folder to the user, i cannot find it to the drop list of the sub-folder i've created in the Report Folder of the Dafault Menu Bar and View section. Can you help me figure this out? thanks.
