newbie and a question

I have just installed APM, and I have a question. When I go to add a node (I am trying to montior websites), and put in the IP of the website itself, it comes back with wanting to add the web server itself. That machine is already managed, but it does not see the web sites as "manageable"

how can I monitor the 6 different sites on this one box/ how does APM view the websites themselves, rather than being snmp nodes..

(this is the first time I have used APM, so excuse my ignorance.)

For APM to monitor 6 web sites, you just need to create 6 HTTP monitors, one for each URL. Each of those can be associated with the same node. The node sort of doesn't matter, but associating them with the web server node probably makes the most sense.

That worked, once I figured out how to create them, it seems a bit confusing at first.

Is there an easy way to learn this program? It seems the admin guide is "lacking" in information. Any online resources as a how to?

The AG is actually full of info, but it may be easier to get started with other forms. Thwack is a good plack to start, but we also have online tutorials: www.solarwinds.com/.../tutorials.aspx

Thaks, but unfortunately, ther is nothing there for APM, which is what I am finding difficulty with. I guess I will just continue to play until I figure it out.
