Finding Unmonitored Interfaces

Greetings all,

Previously we had a limit on the number of interfaces we were able to monitor. We have since upgraded and so I was wondering if there is a report I can run to show me all the interfaces on all my devices that are currently not being monitored. I looked in the report writer but didn't see a report like that or one that I could modify so I am coming to the community for an assist

by "not being monitored" do you mean that are currently unmanaged but still associated to a node or that were never picked up for polling to begin with?

Hi Wally,

there is no way you could see how many interfaces on your monitored devices are not added into NPM. You can only see them when you do List resources on each device and those which are not checked are not monitored.

If your steps with NPM were Evaluation of product and then SL something license was bought, you can list your unmonitored interfaces by using SQL query: select InterfaceName from dbo.Interfaces where LastSync < '2014-02-12 09:00:00'. It can be used in Report writer in Custom table with Advanced DataBase Query -> SQL. In other cases Pavel is right.

Beware LastSync date should be less than actual date/time minus few hours and you should not have any manually unmanaged interfaces.
