APM Oracle Template "unsupported server character set"

Hi all,

When apply APM 2.5 Oracle Template, it had displayed the below Oracle error as:

ORA-12737: Instant Client Light: unsupported server character set ZHT16MSWIN950

=====

Remembered that when evaluate the APM 2.0, it did not have similar problems.

select * from NLS_DATABASE_PARAMETERS

check current character set.

my database use: UTF8.

please help me to check what character set is supported by Solawinds

Hello,
I suppose that you installed Oracle client from Solarwinds customers portal to enable Oracle monitor in APM. This client package contains only light version of Oracle client which doesn't support all character sets.

To support all character sets that Oracle can have you need either full version of Oracle Client Libraries:

http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/tech/oci/instantclient/index.html

or Oracle net services:

http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/oraclenet/index.html

I would try client libraries first as they are more lightweight than net services. Download them and extract them to your APM directory (for example: c:\Program Files\SolarWinds\Orion\APM\OracleClient) - replace existing client libraries there.

Then restart Orion services and try Oracle monitor again. It should work now.

update 0racle 11g can fix.
