I recently migrated my Orion licensing from an older environment to a new greenfield environment running 2019.4. During that licensing transition, it seems our Orion Scalability Engine license got duplicated. So in addition to the OSE license we own, we have another OSE license sitting in evaluation, which just expired. I have been running 2019.x for over a year now with temporary licenses applied until the transition occured. There were never two OSE licenses, only one, so there was never a blue banner.
I opened a case for Solarwinds support regarding the blue banner for Orion Scalability Engine evaluation being expired and asked how to remove the license.
I find the below response from SW Support a bit hard to believe. Are all of you receiving this same blue banner in your web console if you are running 2016.2 or later? According to this support rep, you should be?
Here is the response I received from support:
"Thank you for contacting SolarWinds Customer Care.
With the Orion Platform 2016.2 and new Orion Platform and the integrated Web-based License Manager, the APE licenses will be registered to the primary poller and then leased out to the secondary poller. The web based license manager was designed to leave the Orion Scalability Engine (OSE) in Evaluation in case there are more APEs to register. This will not hurt the system and everything will continue to run as normal even when it shows expired. It will continue in the evaluation state as long as you are running the latest Orion Platform"
