Writing Custom Reports for fun and prizes!

Orion Users,

I just wanted to remind everyone that we here at SolarWinds are currently running a contest for “Best Orion Custom Report”. 

·         First prize is $500

·         Second prize is $250

·         Third prize is $100

Fourth prize is “you’re fired” <see http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0104348/ if you don’t get that joke).  This is an easy contest, Folks.  Just create a custom report, fill out the form (http://thwack.com/spread/customreports.aspx ) and upload your report. If you already have a report posted, you can fill out the form and tell us to officially consider your report for the contest. 

Remember, all you need for a custom report is to go into “New Report” and create something.  “Custom” is anything we didn’t ship as one of the ~50 built-in reports.  If you modify one of our reports, that’s also “custom”.  As you might expect, the more involved your modifications and the more interesting the end result, the more likely you are to win.  But at this point, we don’t have many entries, so all that stands between you and $500 is the time is takes to enter. 

Hey, if you’re still feeling that contest is just too much, hook up with your local neighborhood DBA.  If he or she is willing to be the cheese to your macaroni, you can create a slick new report together and take home a little cash.

 Thanks for reminding everyone to enter, and how easy it is to create a report with Report Writer.  For those that want to enter to win $500 - remember the deadline is January 31st, so hurry!
