How can I do this alert?

Interfaces on Cisco routers...I have it set up with a basic alert, "Page me when an interface goes down"...only have the Cisco router interfaces in "Monitored Network Objects"...it works but if a poll is missed, we get an alert and then the next poll, we get a reset...

Is there any way to set this up, like under adavanced alerts, where it has to be down a period of time before it sends the alert?

This is possible under Advanced alerting, In the Trigger Condition Tab there is an option at the botton for "Do not trigger this action until condition exists for more than [X] [Seconds/Minutes/Hours]"

Here if you put just over your polling interval then it shouldnt only trigger if there are two polls that show that interface down for.

Just a case of making an advanced alert, althought there should be a model advanced alert "Alert me when a node goes down" you could just edit this for interfaces with your desired action!

Yes, I do understand that that is under advanced alerts...but here's the problem...

in basic, you can select the interfaces you want to monitor, but you cannot delay the alert until a device is down for xx time...

in advanced, you can delay the alert for xx time, but (as far as I can see), you cannot select a group of interfaces to monitor...

Sorry, didnt read it fully, my bad!

How is it you are defining the group of interfaces?

You could Monitor the Type Interface and then have the following rules:

'Interface Status' = 'Down'
'Vendor' = 'Cisco'

Then this will monitor all Interfaces that are on a cisco device. Is that what you are looking for?

Then if you wanted on certain pieces of equipment you could use other options, like "Node Name" or possibly Custom Properties?

That would work if I was monitoring all "Cisco" interfaces...we are just monitoring our core routers...but perhaps I can set up custom properties on the core interfaces and key on that?...guess I need to read up on custom properites...:D
