I have some new custom properties and was trying to figure out where they came from and found this:
Does anyone know how these might be created like this??? Some of them are within seconds of each other being created. What is this?
That is correct. SAM 6.0 creates these basic sample custom properties to allow users to track non-pollable asset information.
In doing a little more research I'm starting to think this has something to do with the new Server Asset Inventory Collection maybe???
I'm starting to think this is SAM doing this not NPM... I bet aLTeReGo knows what this is???aLTeReGo any ideas?
I see that sometimes when I do the network discovery/sonar thingy, and add multiple devices/IP ranges at a time.
Also, if I remember correctly, I have seen that when manually editing the node/device, if any of the custom properties are used.
I reckon it might not be helpful information, but its information nonetheless...
I meant I see "SYSTEM" in the audit trail for similar scenarios... not that I see SYSTEM adding new custom properties... only the ones that already exist...
Odd... now that I go back through the audit logs in the message center... all of the SYSTEM entries similar to what you have posted, now have a username instead of SYSTEM.
Good luck on getting your answer... I will check back in to see, as my curiosity is now peaked...
Did you upgrade to NCM 7.2 recently? I see these exact entries showing up in my log at the same time I was upgradeing to 7.2..
No funny wiszm23 that's actually one of the only NPM modules I don't have.
Along with the upgrade to NCM I did upgrades to NPM to 10.6 and SAM to 6.0.0. These custom properties were not there before my upgrades. Had to be one of the three I guess :-)
Thanks AE... when I first saw them I thought one of my admins that adds/removes nodes added them... So I immediately started looking for any nodes with the properties filled in. When I didn't find any I was like wth who did this???... then search audit and found SYSTEM did it. It all makes sense now.
